Microsoft was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. The head office is in Redmond, Washington, USA. The company has representation in 102 countries and regions, and has more than 63,000 employees.
Bill Gates is currently the Chairman of the Board and is the chief architect, focusing on research and development. Steve Ballmer who became the first area manager that Bill Gates employed in 1980, took over the role as CEO in 2000.
